Hello Everybody,

Wow. I sure am feeling overwhelmed by Lent and Holy Week planning this week!
How 'bout you?

To keep us right here in the present moment, well almost, here are some ideas for next Sunday, Epiphany III.

Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10
Psalm 19
1 Corinthians 12:12-31a
Luke 4:14-21

Gathering: Prayer of Peace
I love this song. A Grace favorite.

Opening: Morning Has Broken
If you always do this one straight out of the hymnal try the Cat Stevens' way.
And for those of you that feel like you can't do non-hymnody music in your church maybe this arrangement is the starting place. Here's a 70's flashback for you:

Gospel: By the Rivers of Babylon by Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton
Not the psalm appointed for today but the last line of this week's psalm is here:
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my
heart be acceptable in your sight"
is the refrain. Jimmy Cliff. Yes indeed.

Offertory: What Light/Wilco
A song about offering our unique presence. This one comes up a lot for me during Epiphany.

Communion: Ashokan Farewell (instrumental) We are blessed to have a giant band of musicians-- cello, mandolin, concertina, fiddle, dulcimer, guitar, organ, bass and piano and the occasional harp! We all jam on this one. Layer in instruments and work the dynamics and tempo to make it interesting. A beauty. Performed here by the composer and his family.

After Communion: A Living Prayer
Alison Krauss and Union Station words and music by Ron Block

Closer: Simple Gifts
Have I posted this yet? Love it.

EXTRA just because.
Grace will host a concert with a special performer, Iris Dement, on March 24th.
Here she is harmonizing with James Taylor.
